Welcome!

The European Public Health Alliance (EPHA) represents over 100 non-governmental and other not-for-profit organisations working in support of health in Europe.

A number of EPHA members work on Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). These NGOs find that CAM is not very much advocated for inside the European Union, and would like to join our forces and raise our voice for our interests. This also answers the call from the European Commission for a single voice for CAM. So far the European Commission has not accepted to speak to every single organisation, asking for one single body to consult for CAM issues.

This Platform was formed in December 2004 in Brussels. About 20 organisations of the CAM - Community met under the agreed title and strapline of EFCAM "European Forum for Complementary and Alternative Medicine - Promoting Integrated Healthcare".

Our first activity was to write a declaration on CAM. Our aim is to create a permanent forum for the exchange of views and information and act as a point of reference for the EU institutions on policy and regulatory issues of relevance for CAM. We want to have CAM included in the EU health policy and strategy and seek the participation of CAM experts in relevant EU bodies and institutions.

EFCAM is an open European Forum of CAM stakeholders based in EPHA but with participation from interests outside EPHA membership. The Purpose of the Forum is to engage in dialogue and exchange of views on issues of common interest and concern and engage in common actions when and where appropriate.
If your organisation or institute wishes to participate, please send an e-mail to cam@epha.org and we will contact you to give you the details of our next Forum meeting. It is also possible to just send an observer. The Meetings are taking place quarterly.
